The NC Highway Patrol has filed charges against a Garner woman who collided with a state trooper on Highway 70 in Johnston County. The wreck happened at 7:50am Wednesday on Highway 70 near Moore Street in Clayton.
A Dodge Charger operated by Captain Karen Ward with the State Highway Patrol was traveling west on US 70 in the far right lane of travel. A Ford SUV, operated by Summer Odom, 32, of Garner was traveling east and attempted to turn left across three lanes of traffic. The Ford SUV struck the Dodge Charger in the driver’s side, causing it to travel off the roadway onto the westbound shoulder.
As a result of the collision, Captain Ward was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Odom was not injured.
Odom was charged with a yield violation.
