CLAYTON – A heavy equipment service truck lost control at Exit 326 on Highway 70 near Clayton, Monday afternoon. The truck, full of barrels of oil and liquid products, slammed into the guardrail then overturned two times.
The driver and passenger were transported to Wake Med with injuries. The ramp, which is the Smithfield Exit, was completely shut down for more than an hour as crews worked to clear debris from the roadway.
Cleanup is expected to take several more hours.
