MICRO – Two people were injured in two vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon involving a Johnston County public school bus and blue Dodge passenger car. The collision was reported at 2:56pm on Highway 301 at Pittman Road.
The driver of Bus 758 and the driver of the passenger car were transported to WakeMed in Raleigh with unknown injuries. Officials said there were no students on board the bus.
Highway 301 has been shut down due to the accident. The roadway is expected to reopen by 6:00pm.
The State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
The NC Department of Transportation responded to the scene with a load of sand due to a large amount of fluid in the roadway from the crash.
Johnston County Public Schools confirmed Bus 758 serves North Johnston Middle School.
After running off the roadway, the bus struck a fire hydrant causing a large water leak.
Johnston County Public Utilities responded to repair the leak.
