Smithfield Police are investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store. It happened around 9:30pm Wednesday at the BP Service Mart at 272 NC Highway 210, Smithfield.
Officers said two suspects robbed the business with handguns then fled on foot.
No injuries were reported. This is the latest in a recent rash of robberies in the Smithfield city limits.
On Nov. 15th, Arby’s Restaurant at 1720 East Market Street was robbed by a lone suspect who took an undisclosed amount of money.
On Nov. 6th, the Speedway at 2103 S. Brightleaf Boulevard was robbed by a lone individual who displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.
On November 1st, a 44 year-old man was robbed inside his W. Caroline Avenue home after returning to his home only to find three burglars were inside. A handgun was produced and the suspects robbed the victim of his credit cards and cash before fleeing.
And on July 23, two suspects robbed 301 Smoke and Vapor at 600 S. Brightleaf Boulevard. At gunpoint, the suspects stole a lockbox from the clerk containing an undisclosed amount of money.
Police have not said if the robberies may be connected.
