Two Johnston County public schools will operate under a new schedule starting this fall. North Johnston Middle and Cooper Elementary School will implement a new bell schedule that will allow for slightly longer days Monday through Thursday allowing for an earlier dismissal time on Friday.
By lengthening the school day 4 days each week it will allow students more innovative learning opportunities.
The schedules are as follows:
North Johnston Middle
Monday–Thursday Student Day: 7:25am – 3:15pm; Friday 7:25am – 1:00pm
Monday-Thursday Staff Day: 6:45am – 3:30pm; Friday 6:45am-3:00pm
Cooper Elementary
Monday-Thursday Student Day: 7:45am – 3:45pm; Friday 7:45am-12:45pm
Monday-Thursday Staff Day: 7:15am – 4:15pm: Friday 7:15am – 4:15pm
Deputy Superintendent Dr. Eddie Price said there have been some concerns expressed among parents. Officials at both schools are working with parents who may need assistance with after school care needs during early release on Fridays.
The new schedules will not have a negative impact on bus transportation services.
