U.S. Citizenship Class Being Offered In Johnston County

Triangle South Literacy Works will be holding a U.S. Citizenship Class in Johnston County beginning Wednesday. The class will prepare adult immigrants who are eligible for U.S. citizenship.

The class is being offered at the Selma Public Library, 301 N. Pollock Street, Selma, NC.  Classes will meet every Wednesday night from January 17th through May 16th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  The class is free.

Topics include U.S. History from Christopher Columbus to the present, the Constitution, geography, American symbols and celebrations, and the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of local, state, and national governments.

Vocabulary is emphasized to those whose native language is not English, and preparation for the listening, writing, and oral interview tests is provided using materials from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.  Practice interviews will also be offered.
