UPDATE 5:15pm – A child struck by a car this afternoon has died at the hospital. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said the child was accidentally struck at their home by a car driven by their parent and no charges will be filed.
ANGIER – A child was struck by a car this afternoon (Sunday) in the 1700 block of Massengill Pond Road. Emergency personnel responded to the scene at 2:18pm.
Initial reports indicate a small child, approximately 2 years old, was struck by a car driven by their parent. The incident happened on private property.
The child was rushed by ambulance to Wake Medical Center with serious injuries.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, State Highway Patrol, West Johnston Fire Department and Johnston County EMS responded to the scene.
Because the incident happened on private property, it is being investigated by detectives with the sheriff’s office.
