SELMA – Selma Police continue to investigate a shooting reported on Industrial Park Drive. Around 7:30pm Sunday, police and EMS responded to the Quality Inn after 19 year-old Derrick Thompson was shot in the shoulder while in the parking lot area.
Thompson, who is from the Wilson area, was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Selma Police Chief W.M. Thomas said Monday the victim has been uncooperative with investigators.
Smithfield Police and Johnston County sheriff’s deputies assisted Selma police officers who search a wooded area behind the hotel for a suspect, however no one was located.
Chief Thomas said the motive has not been determined.
