Used Washing Machine Sale Spins Into Felony Charges

CLAYTON — What began as a routine Facebook Marketplace transaction over a used washing machine ended with two people in jail and the appliance back where it belonged.
A 30-year-old Clayton woman listed the washer for sale online and agreed to sell it for $100, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Because the seller was not home at the time, the transaction was arranged as a porch pickup, with the buyers instructed to leave payment in the mailbox.
When the woman returned home, she found the washing machine gone — but the mailbox empty.
After reviewing home security camera footage, the seller determined the buyers removed the washer without attempting to leave payment. She then contacted the sheriff’s office.
Deputies identified the suspects and arrested the pair on Jan. 15.
Edward Paul King III, 30, of Holland Road in Fuquay-Varina, and Alexandria Mae Wilson, 29, of Phillip Road in Selma, were each charged with felony conspiracy, felony obtaining property by false pretenses, and misdemeanor possession of stolen property.
The washing machine was recovered.

Yikes! As a 31 year old, this duo is NOT aging well.
Those cameras sure have changed things for the better in this case….
This year’s Darwin Award nominees.
Lock them up and set an example!!!
OMG I can’t believe they did this I thought these people were saints 😒
Heck.. I want to find out where the owner of the washing machine bought her home security cameras!!!
Buyers and sellers are linked to their Facebook page so it’s pretty easy to figure out who they are. She probably just checked the cameras to see if they attempted to even put anything into the mailbox.
Yes please tell us. We all need quality cameras
Am sure they will be put through the “wringer” by the time they finish with court.
If you can’t do the time, do not do the crime.
It’s a fitting end that they “dirty” crime spree was “cleaned up”!!!!
I’m sure the seller was “ agitated” to learn she had been took to the “cleaners”
Very clever! Good one!
Yep, just “hang them out to dry!”
Dumb a** people to many cameras this day an time
Too my friend too
I think it’s a downright “Dirty” shame 🤣
These two are all washed up!
Not exactly brighter whites.
Maybe while in jail. They can work in the laundry?
