Authorities have identified a 68 year-old man and a 58 year-old woman who died in a mobile home fire Sunday morning.
The fatal fire was reported around 3:00am on RA Lane near Clinton. Fire departments from Clinton, Turkey, Taylor’s Bridge and Herring responded to the scene along with Sampson County EMS and the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office.
After the flames were extinguished the two bodies were found inside.
On Monday, the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as James Willis Hollingsworth and Gwendolyn Taylor Jones both of RA Lane, Clinton.
The NC State Bureau of Investigation and the Sampson County Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting with the investigation. A preliminary report does not suggest any foul play including arson. However, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
