Volunteers Needed For Smithfield’s Annual Litter Sweep
SMITHFIELD, NC — The Town of Smithfield is inviting residents to roll up their sleeves and take part in its upcoming Litter Sweep community cleanup event in celebration of Earth Day.

The event will take place Saturday, April 25, beginning at 9:30 a.m., and aims to bring together volunteers of all ages to help keep the town clean and protect the environment.
Participants may gather at one of three designated locations:
- Smithfield Community Park, 600 M. Durwood Stephenson Parkway
- Bob Wallace / Jaycee Kiddie Park, 209 N. Second Street
- Sarah Yard Community Center, 909 E. Lee Street
The Litter Sweep is designed to encourage civic pride and environmental stewardship while giving residents an opportunity to make a visible difference in their community.
Town officials are encouraging families, civic groups, churches and local organizations to participate. Volunteers will work together to remove litter from parks and surrounding areas, helping maintain Smithfield’s public spaces for residents and visitors alike.
The event is part of the Town of Smithfield’s continued commitment to keeping the community clean and protecting the environment.
Residents interested in participating are encouraged to arrive at one of the gathering points before 9:30 a.m. on April 25 to join the effort.
