The Wake County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has re-captured a Raleigh man this afternoon (Monday), after he was released from jail custody, although there was a federal criminal detainer placed on him by the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
Wake investigators located and arrested Henner Valladres-Valasquez this afternoon, without incident. He was located at an apartment on Wallingford Drive.
A detainer was placed on Valasquez because he had been removed from the United States but re-entered the country illegally.
Detention administrators learned that detention officers released the Valasquez for time served on an assault charge but overlooked the federal warrant. Once the error was discovered, deputies had the subject back in custody within two hours. Federal officials were notified of Valasquez’s arrest.
Disciplinary actions are pending against the detention officers responsible for the unauthorized release.
