Deputies Investigating Garner Gun Shop Break-In

A quick response time by Wake County sheriff’s deputies thwarted a suspect’s intent to steal weapons from a Garner gun shop early this morning.

Just after 2:00am, Wake County 911 dispatchers received an alert of a possible break-in at Smokin’ Barrell Guns and Ammo, located at 4811 Fayetteville Road. Multiple units arrived on scene.

As the first deputy on scene exited his vehicle and began approaching the building, he observed a suspect trying to exit the front door of the gun store. As the deputy moved to attempt to apprehend the suspect, the suspect retreated inside the business, escaping through a side window, before fleeing from the scene.

The suspect attempted to steal approximately 25 weapons that were subsequently located inside the business. The investigation is ongoing.
