Johnston County Commissioners have agreed to spend over $6 million to fund improvements to two water districts.
A total of $1,530,000 will be spent in the Elevation Water District to fund installation of 10,700 feet of a 12 inch water main along Raleigh Road, Woodall Dairy Road, and Tarheel Road plus the installation of a booster pump station on Woodall Dairy Road.
$4,555,000 will be spent in the Buffalo Creek Water District for pump station modifications. The current pump station receives wastewater from the Towns of Selma and Pine Level and a portion from the Town of Smithfield. The project includes over 13,000 feet of 20 inch force main.
Funds for the two projects will come in the form of a loan from the NC Department of Environmental Quality – Division of Water Infrastructure.
