Wayne County Deputies: Woman Arrested With Handgun At Elementary School

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. – A parent was arrested after deputies say a handgun was discovered in her purse at Eastern Wayne Elementary School.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened May 6 when the school’s resource officer was asked to respond to the front office regarding an issue involving a parent.

After arriving and assessing the situation, the school resource officer learned the woman had a handgun inside her purse, authorities said.

Deputies identified the woman as Ariyana L. Jones, 23, of Goldsboro.

Jones was taken into custody and charged with felony possession of a weapon on campus/educational property and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, according to the sheriff’s office.

No injuries were reported and no additional details about the incident were immediately released.

    • It just feels like this is all staged… if guns rights are for things like defending yourself or preserving the concept of America and democracy from a run away government…why is a mentally incompetent person allowed to own one? Let alone be at a school emotionally unstable and requiring a resource officer to become incapacitated when he should be occupied with keeping the school safe from actual threats… This doesnt make sense and I think more guns are needed to avoid these types of situations where someone got their concealed permit from University of Phoenix
