A new wedding and event venue will be opening in western Johnston County. In a 7-to-0 vote, Johnston County Commissioners approved a petition to rezone a 12.1 acre tract at 485 Clayton Road, Angier in the Pleasant Grove Township for the business. The property is owned by Cyrus and Jennifer Holbrook.
Mr. Holbrook told commissioners he plans to convert an existing barn on the property into the venue. He said the nearest neighbor is at least 150 yards away and he will not have any outdoor music.
No one spoke in opposition of the rezoning request. The Planning Board also approved the rezoning request during their October 2020 meeting.
Commissioners did add a few conditions to the rezoning. The business must meet landscaping and signage requirements, must limit hours of operation to Monday – Sunday 7:00am – 2:00am, adhere to any food preparation or sales requirements of the Johnston County Environmental Health Department, and lighting must be engineered not to shine on adjacent properties.
The maximum number of occupants allowed is 125, however the owners projected occupancy between 75 to 100 people.
