The Smithfield Town Council has approved a request by the Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation (DSDC) to appoint Kristina Whitten to the DSDC Board of Directors.
Whitten operates The Southern Bostonian at 109 S. Third Street. In her application she stated, “I moved to NC almost three years ago and I have always been drawn to the Downtown Smithfield area. Then this fall presented an opportunity to open a shop on lovely Third Street. I went for it. I have a profound love for home decor and anything vintage and antique and it has been a blessing to be able to share it with members of Smithfield and surrounding communities. I strive everyday to bring more foot traffic and attention to the businesses in the downtown community.”
Whitten has extensive experience in marketing and advertising.
Any appointment to the board must be approved by the Town Council.
