WILSON’S MILLS – A couple passing through Johnston County, as they drove from Kinston to Cullowee, on Monday afternoon was fortunate to only suffer a broken window and small cuts when a large wild turkey suddenly flew from the median into the driver’s side door of their Ford Mustang. The accident happened on Highway 70 near Wilson’s Mills.
The couple, their 5 week old infant and a dog were all checked out at the scene by Johnston County EMS crews but none required transport to a hospital. There were no serious injuries.
The family was taken to the Wilson’s Mills Fire Station #1 to wait for a relative to pick them up. The turkey did not survive.
