Wilson Police have released the name of a man shot to death this morning (Monday). Around 1:30am, police responded to a shots fired call in the 400 block of Stadium Street. When they arrived they found 63 year-old Evard Earl Artis lying in the front yard of his home suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police and EMS attempted life saving efforts on Artis but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police are treating his death as a homicide.
