Wilson’s Mills Firefighters Participate In Haz Mat Training

WILSON’S MILLS – On March 7, the Wilson’s Mills Fire Department participated in a Hazardous Materials Training hosted by My Propane Butler. The local propane distributor, located beside Wilson’s Mills Fire Station #2, showed off their new cylinder filling operation which is supplied by an 18,000 gallon propane tank.

“Our recent facility expansion was necessary to keep up with the growth in demand, which is heavily due to the large population increase that we have seen around Johnston County and the Triangle area. Working with Chief Powell and the Wilson’s Mills Fire Department is essential in maintaining the highest standards of safety that we have here at My Propane Butler,” said Harley Medlin, COO.

North Carolina firefighters are required to complete six hours of hazmat training each year. If you ever suspect a gas leak, call 911.

Wilson’s Mills Fire Department New Station will have a grand opening on Saturday, March 16th where the public is invited. The station is located at 1988 Gordon Road, Clayton NC 27520

  1. I’m pleased to read that the WMFD is encouraging citizens to call 911 when a gas leak is suspected, as opposed to utility and some gas companies telling you to call THEM when you suspect a gas leak. Calling the company can incite a deadly delay when seconds count.
