Wilson’s Mills Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Hit-And-Run Suspect

WILSON’S MILLS, N.C. — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man wanted in connection with a hit-and-run accident that escalated into a second collision moments later.
According to the Wilson’s Mills Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17 on Powhatan Road.
Police Chief A.Z. Williams said an unidentified driver operating a 2004 Ford F-150 was turning onto Powhatan Road from a private driveway when the truck crossed the centerline and collided with a Dodge Charger traveling southbound.
Rather than stopping after the crash, the driver of the pickup truck allegedly continued north on Powhatan Road.
The driver of the Dodge Charger turned around and followed the suspect vehicle for approximately two miles before it stopped on Southerland Road, Chief Williams said.
Police said the suspect then placed the truck in reverse and intentionally struck the front of the Dodge Charger, causing additional damage.
A brief verbal exchange occurred between the parties before the suspect fled the area a second time.
During the encounter, a passenger in the Dodge Charger was able to photograph the suspect and the vehicle, providing investigators with a lead in the case.
Police said the Dodge Charger sustained approximately $3,000 in damage. No injuries were reported.
The pickup truck involved in the incident has since been located. Investigators determined the vehicle owner was not the driver at the time of the crash. The owner told police the truck had been used by a part-time employee known only as “Damoni” but was unable to provide investigators with additional identifying information.
Wilson’s Mills Police have released a photograph of the individual they are attempting to identify and locate.
Anyone who recognizes the man pictured or has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Wilson’s Mills Police Department at 919-938-3885.
