Wilson’s Mills Shooting Suspect Arrested

Updated Story

WILSON’S MILLS, N.C. — A 19-year-old wanted in connection with a Wilson’s Mills shooting that left a teenager seriously injured has been arrested in Raleigh.

Julez Giles Ingram was taken into custody April 17 by the Raleigh Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force. Authorities said the arrest was unrelated to the ongoing Wilson’s Mills shooting investigation.

Following his arrest, Ingram was served with outstanding Wilson’s Mills Police warrants, including felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was also served with a state felony probation violation charge.

Ingram is currently being held without bond at the Wake County Detention Center.

“Getting Ingram off the streets is a win for the citizens of Johnston County,” Wilson’s Mills Police Chief A.Z. Williams said. “His known gang ties and prior criminal activity made him a young menace to society.”

The charges stem from an April 4 incident in which a 17-year-old male arrived at Johnston Health in Smithfield with a serious gunshot wound. The shooting was initially reported to have occurred at a park in Selma but was later determined to have taken place within Wilson’s Mills town limits on Twin Pine Court.

A motive for the shooting has not been released.

Authorities continue to encourage anyone with additional information related to the case to contact the Wilson’s Mills Police Department.
