Johnston County Public Schools will spend $683,000 to replace windows at two schools.
Waters Contracting Company of Bogue, NC was awarded the low bid for the work at Micro Elementary and Princeton High.
At Micro Elementary, original single pane windows in the gymnasium will be replacement with modern efficient windows.
At Princeton High, front facade doors and windows that have lost their vapor seal will be replaced, along with windows in the media center and lobby at the old gym.
School officials said replacing the windows and doors will improve thermal efficiency and indoor air quality. A $50,000 contingency was also included in the bid to cover any unforeseen issues.
