Woman Charged With Selling 3 Vehicles Stored On Family Property

SELMA, N.C. — A Virginia woman is facing four felony charges after Johnston County investigators say she sold three vehicles that weren’t hers and pocketed the proceeds.
Jakie Marie Lipscomb, 48, of Virginia Beach, was arrested Dec. 4, 2025, by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say the case began in May 2024, shortly after the death of a relative who lived near Selma.
According to the sheriff’s office, several people had permission to store their vehicles on the relative’s property. After the relative died, Lipscomb allegedly contacted a local towing company, claimed the vehicles were hers, and arranged to sell them for $6,500. The vehicles included a 1950 Ford truck, a 1979 Ford Bronco, and a 2003 Ford van.
Detectives later located all three vehicles and returned them to their rightful owners. However, the money from the sale has not been recovered.
Lipscomb is charged with three felony counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and one felony count of obtaining property by false pretense. She was booked into the Johnston County Detention Center under a $120,000 secured bond.
