Woman, Pit Bull Found Inside SUV During Early-Morning Break-In Call

BENSON, N.C. – A 35-year-old woman was arrested early Sunday after Johnston County sheriff’s deputies allegedly found her sitting inside a stranger’s SUV with the victim’s purse.
Deputies were called around 2:30 a.m. Aug. 16 to a home in the 500 block of Grace Road outside Benson.
According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Jessica Dawn Johnson, 35, of the 200 block of Grace Road, was found sitting in the front seat of the SUV with her pit bull.
Authorities said Johnson was also in possession of the victim’s purse.
The homeowner had been asleep inside the residence when the SUV parked in the driveway and a second vehicle were allegedly entered.
The purse was recovered and returned to the victim.
Johnson was charged with two felony counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and one misdemeanor count of resisting a public officer.
She was given a $5,000 bond.
