A Four Oaks man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly moved into a home while the occupant was away for several days.
Deputies said the incident occurred at a home on Wilshire Lane in the Sheffield Woods Subdivision on Highway 210 near Four Oaks.
A 49 year-old woman who was renting the home was in the processing of moving into another house and hadn’t been to the residence since February 25th. When she returned on March 4th to move more of her belongings she allegedly found the suspect inside. He initially tried to identify himself as a house cleaner but then allegedly told the woman he could stay there because the home had been abandoned.
Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said 24 year-old Robert William Shaffer of Sheffield Drive allegedly used the woman’s bed blankets, shampoo, cups, dishes, drinks and even a bottle of wine while she was away.
Shaffer was located nearby and charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering. He was released on a $1,000 bond.
