A home health care worker was robbed at gunpoint after her car broke down Saturday morning. Johnston County deputies said the incident happened shortly after 2:00am on Cornwallis Road in front of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.
The 32 year-old victim was traveling alone when she experienced mechanical issues with her car. Within minutes a man driving a pickup truck stopped and offered to assist. Instead, the woman said she was held at gunpoint and robbed of her money, engagement ring, earrings, wrist watch, and debit card. Altogether the victim said a total of $3,999 in cash and belongings were stolen.
Johnston County Sheriff Detective Lt. Don Pate said the suspect was described as a white male, 6 foot tall, with a blonde mustache and beard. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket and blue jeans. He fled in a gray Ford F-150 truck last seen on Cornwallis Road headed towards Highway 42 West.
The victim was not injured.
