PRINCETON – A two vehicle accident around 5:30pm Sunday seriously injured a young woman. The accident was reported at the intersection of Sunshine Road and Rains Crossroads Road.
A small Saturn passenger car and Ford pickup truck towing a trailer with a race car inside collided at the intersection. The impact sent both vehicles into a field, while the trailer separated from the pickup and continued down the road before ending up partially in a ditch.
The female driver in the Saturn was pinned in the vehicle and badly injured.
Princeton Fire Department personnel extricated the woman and Johnston County EMS rushed her to Wake Med, according to authorities.
The man driving the truck was not seriously injured.
The State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
