CLAYTON – One person was killed and two others seriously injured following a single vehicle accident this morning in Johnston County.
Emergency crews responded to the 6:46am accident on Jack Road outside of Clayton. Troopers said a Chevy SUV was traveling eastbound on Jack Road when it ran off the roadway to the right in a curve and struck a driveway culvert. The SUV overturned several times before coming to rest on its wheels.
A rear seat passenger was ejected and died at the scene. The driver and front seat passenger were rushed by ambulance to WakeMed in Raleigh.
Troopers identified the driver as Nancy Berenice Ramirez Gonzalez of Raleigh and the front seat passenger as Olga Romo of Clayton. Both sustained serious injuries.
Troopers said Gonzalez was impaired and charges against her are pending.
The name of the deceased back seat passenger has not been released.
