An expensive wedding ring was stolen from an elderly couple Friday.
A 74 year-old Smithfield man had placed his wife’s $12,000 gold wedding ring in his car to take to get it cleaned. Before arriving at the jewelry store, the victim made several stops at other businesses in Smithfield. At each stop, police said he left his car unlocked.
When he arrived at the jewelry store he realized the ring was missing.
Smithfield Police are investigating but so far have not determined exactly where the theft occurred.
