Johnston County Public Schools zero tolerance of weapons on educational property has led to charges being filed against a student at West Johnston High School.
WTSB News has learned a 15 year-old student was found to have a multi-purpose tool or “handyman tool” in his possession on school grounds on Friday. The student was charged with possession of a weapon on school property on a juvenile petition before being released into the custody of a family member.
The juvenile could also face possible long term suspension.
The exact type and brand of tool was not disclosed but many multi-purpose tools contain pliers, screwdrivers, a bottle opener, scissors, and a knife.
No additional details were released because the incident involved a juvenile.
