24-Year-Old Marine Dies In Johnston County Motorcycle Accident

BENSON, N.C. — A 24-year-old Four Oaks man was killed Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in southern Johnston County.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5 p.m. on Wood’s Crossroads Road in the Meadow community.
Troopers said Tyler Shepard was traveling east on a 2020 Ducati motorcycle when he lost control while navigating a curve. The motorcycle ran off the right side of the road, overturned, and struck a mailbox. Shepard was ejected and died at the scene.

Investigators said speed is believed to have been a contributing factor. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected.
The North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and is assisting with the investigation.
Family members said Shepard was a U.S. Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune and was traveling home for the weekend.

Why because a Harley stays broke down
I hate reading stories like this. Such a preventable tragedy, motorcycles are so dangerous. Prayers to his family.
Yes, dangerous. But controllable if riden conservatively. Most at fault accidents are caused by those riding beyond their abilities. Please take a Motorcycle Safety Course at your local Community College.
