$3.2 Million Bid Awarded For Elementary School HVAC Improvements

SMITHFIELD – Improvements will be made to HVAC equipment at Glendale-Kenly, River Dell, Riverwood, and West Smithfield Elementary Schools following a bid awarded by the Johnston County Board of Education.

MSS Solutions, LLC was the lowest of four bidders on the project. The $3,259,000 contract will allow the company to replace controllers, sensors, thermostats, and other parts of the existing HVAC systems.

Johnston County Public Schools Chief of Facilities and Construction Brooks Moore said the upgrades will increase the reliability of the HVAC systems and improve indoor air quality.

ESSER funds will be used to pay for the upgrades.

  1. Back in the day we did not have A-C ..We opened a window and got lucky when they put ceiling fans in the rooms

    • We didn’t either when I was in elementary school, but we also got released early if it hit 90F…

    • We also had lead pipes, asbestos insulation, no internet. #notThatGoodOfOldDays

  2. Just add a couple window units to compensate aging system. Costs about 3 thousand instead of 3 million.
