$3.7 Million Bid Awarded For HVAC Upgrades At Four Schools
SMITHFIELD – Four public school campuses will be getting upgrades to their HVAC systems. The Board of Education recently approved a $3,745,195 contract with Engineering Control Solutions (ECS) for the work. ECS was the lowest of three bidders.
The project at Benson, Four Oaks, McGee’s Crossroads, and Riverwood Middle Schools will include the replacement of controllers, sensors, thermostats, and valves, among other improvements, according to Brooks Moore, Chief of Facilities and Construction with Johnston County Public Schools. Chilled and hot water pump packages will be replaced as well.
Mr. Moore said the new equipment and control systems will allow for more reliable operations and improved indoor air quality.
ESSER funds will be used to pay for the upgrades.
