Four juvenile suspects are facing petitions following a string of vandalism first reported in late December.
Benson Police located and detained four male juveniles — ages ranging from 15 to 17 — on January 1st in connection with several vehicles being vandalized by “egging” or, simply, throwing eggs at parked vehicles around town.
On December 31, Benson Police filed eight reports for victims along West Woodall, West Pope, and West Main streets. An additional four “egging” reports were filed on January 1 from victims along North Farmer Drive, West Parrish Drive, and South Augusta Street.
The four suspects — all Harnett County residents — have been released into the custody of parents. Several juvenile petitions for vandalism are pending against the teenagers as Benson Police tally the damages.
If your car has recently been “egged,” you are urged to contact the Benson Police Department as soon as possible to file a report. The non-emergency number is 919-894-2091 or you can stop by the police station at 303 E. Church Street.
