Area Police Team Up For Wilson’s Mills Checkpoint

WILSON’S MILLS, N.C. — Johnston County law enforcement officers conducted a multi-agency traffic checkpoint Friday night in the Town of Wilson’s Mills aimed at reducing crashes caused by motor vehicle violations.
Agencies participating in the operation included the Wilson’s Mills Police Department along with police officers from Selma, Smithfield and Kenly. The North Carolina “Booze It or Lose It” Batmobile was also on scene.

Wilson’s Mills Police Chief A.Z. Williams said cooperation between agencies helps improve traffic safety across the county.
“We appreciate the good working relationships we have with those agencies,” Williams said. “We all understand that good policing and traffic enforcement work hand in hand and together help make Johnston County a better community.”

During the operation, officers issued multiple charges, including one drug-related driving while impaired charge, five counts of driving while license revoked, and 10 charges for no operator’s license.
Additional charges included five expired registration violations, three speeding violations, one charge of marijuana possession and three charges of drug paraphernalia possession.
