Arts Council Of Wayne County Names Interim Executive Director

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The Arts Council of Wayne County has named Fritz Knack as its interim executive director following the departure of Executive Director Anna Hinson.

Knack succeeds Hinson, who had led the organization since 2024. During her tenure, the Arts Council said it expanded community engagement, strengthened partnerships and advanced strategic planning efforts.

“Anna’s leadership has strengthened the Arts Council and positioned the organization for continued success,” Knack said. “I am grateful for the foundation she has helped build and excited for the opportunity to continue that work alongside our staff, artists, partners, and community.”

Before accepting the interim position, Knack served as chairman of the Arts Council’s Board of Directors. He resigned that position to assume the executive leadership role.

Knack brings more than 35 years of experience in organizational leadership, operations, technology, governance and community service. Following a career that included nearly two decades with Wells Fargo, he returned to Goldsboro and became active in local civic and nonprofit organizations.

“Fritz brings a unique combination of professional experience, institutional knowledge, and dedication to the Arts Council’s mission,” said Balik Whack, chair of the Arts Council Board of Directors. “His leadership on the Board has helped strengthen the organization, and we are confident he will provide the continuity and vision needed as the Arts Council moves forward.”

Knack said the organization’s mission will remain its focus.

“The Arts Council’s mission is to discover creativity within every individual, foster artistic expression, and build vibrant communities,” he said. “That mission will continue to guide everything we do as we support artists, expand opportunities, and strengthen the role of creativity throughout Wayne County.”
