BENSON – Authorities are investigating an armed robbery at a Benson-area convenience store. It happened at 11:58pm Sunday at the Scotchman Store at 12320 NC Highway 210, near Interstate 40.
The clerk said the suspect entered the business and approached the counter to pay for Skittles. The suspect claimed he left his wallet outside and would return. When he re-entered the store, the suspect brandished a handgun and robbed the clerk of an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect was described as a black male, 6 foot tall, wearing a gray hoodie, black pants, black toboggan, and mask. He fled from the business on foot. The clerk was not injured.
Anyone with information about the Sunday night robbery of the Scotchman Store is asked to contact the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office at 919-989-5000.
In November 2019, a clerk at the same business was shot and killed during a holdup.
Well, since he ran away on foot….did he run home across the street?
Yes. I’m sure you must know the area. Shame they had to build these low income units in stock a quiet area I’ve enjoyed most of my life. I see the same clientele in the Food Lion practicing absolutely no shopping courtesy usually bringing all 6 children that got them the apartment and have obviously been raised with no class or manors. I now travel to a different newer and shopped by much better class of people Food Lion. They once had armed security in there after that kid who’s mom worked in the Scotsman got shot and killed. That place has brought nothing good to our area. My daughter got hit driving in that intersection from someone driving recklessly. I could keep going. Wait till the campground gets put in if that ever happens.
Manors? Lol!
