The Staff and Board of Directors of the Benson Museum of Local History invites the public to attend the Fifth Annual Black History Month Open House and Celebration on Sunday, February 28th.
This year the life and legacy of Harvey Johnson, Jr. will be honored. Johnson was a Benson native whose pursuit of equality and community activism led to a more equitable and accurate representation in local government for the historically disenfranchised minority community.
The open house will consist of a program where Harvey Johnson’s family will speak about his life and the legacy he left behind. Ellen Adams, a harpist, will provide music while visitors tour the museum and enjoy the fellowship.
