Benson Man Accused Of Setting Fire To His Own Home

BENSON — A Benson man already facing charges in a separate mailbox fire case is now accused of setting fire to his own home.

Isidoro Florest Molina, 45, of 1185 Benson-Hardee Road, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with second-degree arson. Johnston County 911 received the fire call at 6:23 p.m.

Authorities allege Molina set fire to his singlewide mobile home on Benson-Hardee Road. The residence sustained extensive damage.

Benson, Elevation, West Johnston and Four Oaks fire departments responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Molina made his first court appearance Wednesday, Oct. 14, when bond was set at $500,000.

Molina was already facing charges from an earlier case in which Johnston County sheriff’s deputies alleged he poured gasoline on a neighbor’s mailbox and mailbox post on Bailey’s Crossroads Road and set them on fire.

He was charged in that case with felony burning of personal property. The charge remain pending.

Molina had been free on $30,000 bond in the earlier case before his arrest Tuesday night.
