SMITHFIELD – The Town of Smithfield has approved the purchase of a 2023 International trash truck. The Public Works Department will purchase the new truck from Carolina Environmental Systems for $227,987.
The Council had originally budgeted $217,000 for the purchase of the new truck but due to inflation, the cost was higher than projected last year.
Carolina Environmental Systems of Kernersville, NC was the lowest of three bidders. Other bids received were in the amounts of $239,828 and $243,260.
The trash truck will likely be delivered in the second or third quarter of 2023.
