Two business break-ins discovered today (Wednesday) are possibly connected.
Johnston County deputies discovered the first break-in around 1:00am today after responding to an alarm at the Safeway convenience store on Highway 210 at Lassiter Road. Detective Lt. Mike Carson said the suspect used a block to shatter the front glass door. Once inside, the suspect took the cash register containing an undisclosed amount of cash along with cigarettes valued at $86.
Around 4:30am, a similar break-in was reported at Jackson’s Corner on Highway 50 South of Benson. After the suspect shattered the glass door they went inside and stolen the cash register drawer containing an undisclosed amount of money.
Lt. Carson said both businesses had video surveillance cameras that captured what appears to be the same suspect commit both break-ins.
