NEWTON GROVE – The Highway Patrol has charged a driver with causing a fatal two vehicle accident.
The collision was reported at 8:03am Saturday, April 13 at the intersection of NC 55 and Easy Street, near Newton Grove, in northern Sampson County.
An AM General military-style vehicle converted to a farm truck reportedly pulled into the path of a Hyundai Sonata. Both vehicles came to rest just west of the intersection.
The driver of the Hyundai, William Anthony Artis, 59, of Warsaw, NC died at the scene.
The driver of the farm truck, Victor Hugo Rojas Espejo, 46, of Faison, NC was not injured.
The Highway Patrol charged Espejo with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and a yield violation.
