Johnston County Commissioners and the Johnston County Republican Party have appointed five members to a special committee to interview the applicants for a vacant seat on the Board of Commissioners.
Five people applied for the vacant District 6 seat before the deadline last Friday.
Commissioner Vice Chairman Ted Godwin, Commissioners Chad Stewart and Larry Wood along with Republican Party Chairman Patrick Harris and Vice Chair Michelle Haller are the five members selected.
They will interview Tony Braswell, David Lee Jackson, Mark Lee, Darryl Mitchell and Brent Wiggs who have applied.
The committee will recommend one of the candidates to the Board of Commissioners prior to their November 6th meeting. The board is expected to vote on the candidate at that November meeting.
Sources tell WTSB News that Jackson is expected to be appointed to the vacant seat of Keith Branch.
Jackson does have pending criminal charges in Greensboro. Those charges are set to be heard at the Guilford County Courthouse on October 23rd. The case had originally been set for trial on November 6th, the same day commissioners are expected to make their appointment.
