SMITHFIELD – The Johnston County Comprehensive Land Use Plan is nearing completion following a year of public meetings, committee hearings, surveys, studies and discussions. The plan will be used to guide growth and development in our community for the next 20 years.
The next public forum will take place on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Johnston County Agricultural Center auditorium at 6:00 p.m. The planning department will present the draft plan for public feedback. Residents are encouraged to attend the forum to voice their opinions on land use, growth management, transportation, resource conservation and the overall vision for the future of Johnston County. There will be a brief presentation at 6:30 p.m. followed by a question and answer period, and an informal open house session.
“The County’s new comprehensive plan, Envision Johnston, is nearing completion and we look forward to seeing the public on June 29,” said County planning director Braston Newton. “Our project team will be present to answer questions and hear your opinions.”
