Johnston County Commissioners unanimously approved a request this month for 50-210 EMS to purchase a new ambulance.
50-210 EMS Chief Ricky Denning said a new 2020 model will cost the department $152,913. Denning said the agency will pay for the AEV model ambulance and will not have to finance the purchase.
Once received, it will replace a 2009 model with over 220,000 miles that Chief Denning says is still being used on a regular basis to respond to calls.
The purchase was reviewed by the Johnston County EMS Advisory Committee during their July 2019 meeting.
