Deputies: $180,000 In Drugs Seized During Johnston County Search

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A Johnston County man faces multiple felony drug charges after authorities allegedly uncovered a large-scale marijuana packaging and distribution operation during a search of his residence.
Douglas Scott Allen, 51, of Olympic Trail, Garner, off Cornwallis Road, was arrested May 5 and charged with three counts of trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, narcotics agents had been investigating a drug complaint that led to the execution of a search warrant at Allen’s home.

Investigators alleged the garage had been converted into a marijuana packaging operation where Allen received large quantities of marijuana and repackaged the products into smaller amounts for resale. Authorities said the operation also involved THC edibles and psilocybin mushrooms.
Detectives reportedly seized shipping boxes, labels and packaging materials allegedly used to market the products as medicinal marijuana.
Authorities said deputies confiscated approximately 35 pounds of marijuana products, including raw marijuana, THC gummies and THC wax, with an estimated street value of $135,000.

Investigators also seized about 2 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms valued at approximately $45,350, along with $13,300 in cash.
Other items recovered included a money counter, vacuum sealers, packaging supplies, shipping materials and homemade “medicinal marijuana” labels, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Wake County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation assisted in the investigation.
Allen was held under a $50,000 secured bond.
