Deputies Recover Property After I-95 Vehicle Break-In

SELMA — A pickup truck left disabled along Interstate 95 became the target of thieves, leading to one arrest and the recovery of some of the stolen property in Wilson County, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

A 20-year-old Selma man told deputies his pickup became disabled Sept. 22 near the 98 mile marker on I-95. He locked the truck before leaving it along the shoulder.

When he returned several hours later, the man discovered scratch marks around the door where someone had apparently forced their way inside.

A drill, work boots, a work vest, several hats and a tow strap were reported stolen. The property was valued at $765.

During the investigation, Johnston County deputies located some of the stolen items in Wilson County.

Joseph Ray Minshew, 30, of Saint Mary’s Church Road, Lucama, was arrested Oct. 1.
He was charged with felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle, felony conspiracy and misdemeanor larceny.

Minshew was held under a $20,000 secured bond.

The Sheriff’s Office said additional arrests are pending in the investigation.
