Deputies: Woman Pulled Gun On Passenger During I-95 Dispute

MICRO — A Clayton woman is accused of pointing a handgun at a passenger during a heated dispute on Interstate 95, forcing the victim out of the vehicle before driving away.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has charged Ashley Nicole Squires, 21, with felony possession of a firearm by a felon and misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun.

Deputies were dispatched around 3 p.m. Dec. 8 after the victim called for help, reporting that Squires reportedly aimed a handgun at them inside the car during a domestic argument. The victim was found on the shoulder of I-95 near Micro after being forced out of the vehicle.

A state trooper later stopped Squires on I-95 near U.S. 701 in Four Oaks. Investigators said a loaded revolver was found inside the vehicle and seized as evidence.

Squires reportedly denied knowing the firearm was in the car.
