Officers Spread Holiday Cheer During Annual Cops & Kids Christmas Event
JOHNSTON COUNTY – Local law enforcement officers helped bring holiday joy to local children during the Cops & Kids Christmas Shopping Event, hosted by the Johnston County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 88, on Sunday, December 14.
The event took place at the Smithfield Walmart, where officers from agencies across Johnston County and surrounding areas spent the morning shopping alongside children from the community. Working in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Johnston County, organizers provided Christmas gifts to 50 local children.
The Cops & Kids program is designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and families while creating positive, lasting experiences for youth.
Children were paired with officers for a one-on-one shopping experience, allowing them to select holiday gifts while building connections with local law enforcement.
In addition to officers, volunteers from the Junior Women’s League, Delta Waterfowl, and Wilson Mills Baptist Church assisted with the event, helping ensure everything ran smoothly.
The Johnston County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 88 hosts the annual event.
